Serving on a society committee is a way to contribute to your profession, meet CPA colleagues, and learn more about your profession.

Convention
Help facilitate a fun, well organized CPA Convention. Typically for members close to the next convention location.
Time: several meetings plus helping at the Convention
Future Locations: 2023 - Fargo, 2024 - Medora, 2025 - Grand Forks, 2026 - Bismarck, 2027 - Fargo
Membership
Recruit, engage, and retain NDCPAS members; promote and choose award winnders; evaluate member benefits programs
Time: 1 in person meeting, about 6 conference calls
Members in Business and Industry
Plans the Management Conference. Stimulates interest among CPAs in industry to maintain their professional status and participate in the Society
Time: 1 in person meeting, emails, help at the conference
Professional Ethics
Respond to complaints and proposed ethics changes, inform members about eithics matters
Time: depends on needs
NextGen Recruiting
Educate and engage potential future CPAs
Time: 1 in person meeting, conference calls
Accounting Career Influencer
Present to classrooms to increase interest in the profession. Presentation topics are about accounting careers and the CPA credential. Volunteers receive supplemental materials from NDCPAS.
Time: Varies
Small Firm Network
Provide a network for small firm pracitioners to connect with other members and share resources
Time: Quarterly online meetings and emails
Taxation
Meetings with legislators, regulators, and standard setters on matters relating to taxation. Communicates issues of interest to members
Time: 1 in person meeting, conference calls
Young Professionals
Provide young CPAs with networking and leadership development. Seeks ways to enhance the value of membership for young members
Time: One in person meeting and 4 online meetings
Other Options
If an ongoing committee role doesn't sound right for you, there are other ways to be of service to your profession - on your own schedule -- such as writing an item for the web or newsletter, being a host for a new CPA at Convention, or contacting nonmembers to encourage joining.
